Remember to Water & Fertilize This Summer

Jun 28, 2022

We have been experiencing very hot and dry weather conditions. With that said, one of the most common conditions lawns succumb to in the summer is brown spots or dry drought. If your lawn is showing signs of yellow tinting, thinning grass and/or 'dead patches,' it's time to take action! While it looks unsightly and you think it will never grow back, rest assured it will with just the right amount of hydration and nutrients. It's imperative that you are watering your turf and providing it with everything it needs in order to push through. Follow these tips to get started:

  • Water in the early morning. During peak hours, the water will evaporate before the soil can absorb it and watering in the evening promotes disease.
  • Test your turf's moisture level to tell if it is in need of water.
  • Watering the lawn should be done every 2-4 days depending on the amount of moisture in the yard.
  • Provide your lawn with a minimum of 1 1/2 inches of water weekly (usually about 50 minutes to an hour).

It's important to give your lawn a boost when it's experiencing drought stress. Though watering is important, our products are able to release nutrients and benefit your lawn even during the hottest months. A consistent feeding is necessary for your lawn to meet its full potential; even more so when the weather is difficult.
